The final whistle blew at The New Lawn, bringing down the curtain on Morecambe's season in a manner none of us wanted to see. A trip to face Play-Off contenders Forest Green Rovers was always going to be a tough ask, but the 5-0 drubbing that unfolded was a bitter pill to swallow for the travelling Shrimps faithful and indeed, for everyone associated with the club.

It was a challenging afternoon from the outset, with the hosts, clearly motivated by their post-season ambitions, dictating the tempo and pressing high up the turf. Our lads struggled to gain a foothold in the midfield battle, and the early pressure soon told. Forest Green opened their account relatively early, a goal that set the tone for the remainder of the encounter and highlighted the uphill battle ahead for Morecambe. While the scoreline is undoubtedly painful and the memory of this particular match will quickly be filed away as 'one to forget', it's crucial for Morecambe to use this experience as a learning curve. Finishing the season with such a heavy defeat is never ideal, but it highlights the gap that still needs to be bridged if we are to compete consistently with the league's top outfits. Our journey this campaign has had its ups and downs, moments of brilliance, and periods of struggle. The hard work and dedication shown by the squad throughout the season should not be overshadowed by one difficult afternoon. The focus now shifts to the summer, to recovery, strategic planning, and preparing to come back stronger for the next push.
